| SHOT: Documenting current spaces, by Robert William Overweg Robert Overweg sees the virtual environments of (First person and third person shooter) games as the new public spaces of contemporary society. He dwells through these worlds as the street photographer of the virtual world, documenting his experiences. He discovered a beauty behind the violence, where it normally is the goal to shoot each other in these worlds, Robert was grasped by the flickering sunlight, beautiful reflections and swarms of birds flying in patterns on ideal locations. The by human hands created virtual worlds are often a direct copy of our own (real) world but with a higher frequency of beauty. The experience in viewing a photograph made in the virtual world and one in the (real) world is often the same. The border between the (real) world and the virtual world fades. SHOT: Documenting current spaces, by Robert William Overweg Robert Overweg ziet de virtuele werelden van (first en third person shooter) games als de nieuwe publieke ruimte van de hedendaagse samenleving. Hij dwaalt door deze werelden als de straatfotograaf van de virtuele wereld en legt zijn ervaringen vast. Hij ontdekte in deze werelden een schoonheid achter het geweld. Waar het normaal de bedoeling is om elkaar overhoop te schieten werd Robert gegrepen door schitterende lichtinvallen, reflecties en zwermen vogels boven bepaalde plekken. De door mensen gecreëerde virtuele werelden zijn vaak een directe kopie van de (echte) wereld maar met een grotere constante in schoonheid. De ervaring van het bekijken van een foto gemaakt in de virtuele wereld en in de echte wereld is vaak hetzelfde. De grens tussen de (echte) wereld en de virtuele wereld vervaagt even.
